aWhere interpolates data collected from global meteorological stations and orbiting satellites, providing accurate agro-meteorological data in detailed 9km grids.

Users can view data online or receive daily or weekly email notifications of weather data and weather alerts (sent if a user selected threshold is crossed) for their locations of interest.  Users can also download historical observed data by location.

In addition to historical daily weather and long term normal calculations, each day’s update includes current day and a 10 day forecast. Available weather variables include:

  • Precipitation
  • Min/Max Temperature
  • Min/Max Relative Humidity
  • Solar Radiation
  • Max Wind Speed
  • Morning Wind Speed
  • Mean Temperature
  • Growing Degree Days
  • Long Term Normals

Localized weather data informs in-season decision making, is instrumental for improved research, and critical for shaping policies relating to global development.

Some examples of use include:

  • Tactical decision making for extension workers or farmers
  • Harvest prediction based on seasonal GDD accumulation and/or precipitation levels
  • Localized climate-smart recommendations that directly impact the individual farmer
  • Pest modeling from hourly forecasts - conditions conducive for insect and fungal pests can be accurately, spatially predicted
  • Identify location specific trends
  • Drought and flood risk, monitoring, and short-term prediction
